Technical Question - Wheel out of spec
Having recently purchased a set of used 17" GS400 rims, I decided to have them checked before ordering new tires. 3 checked out perfect. 1 wheel was 1 degree out of spec when comparing the side to side measurement on the inside bead where the tire will actually sit.
The tech at Discount Tire America told me that this reading was not really unusual. He says that many NEW cast rims would measure out of spec by a full degree. He said that I would only be noticable at speeds above 90 mph.
I am ready to order my tires and move forward, but I would really like some confirmation that what he's saying is true.
Thanks!

Hard ?
It's a hard one to answer. We have found problems with beads not seating correctly even on perfect wheels, we have had to dismount and rebalance. On an imperfect wheel, where the bead seat wanders... It's hard for me to say or I would think anyone to say for sure.
