Default Tire Question

Hey everyone,

I know nothing about tires and did a search but still haven't found an answer.

In short, my current tires are 215/60VR15. Will 225/60HR15 tires fit as well?

These are for the original wheels on a 94 SC300.

Thanks all!

P.S. What does that "VR" and "HR" designation mean?

Yes, they will fit, but in reality it depends on the width of the wheel. But I would buy 225 60 VR 15.

VR and HR are speed ratings. They tell how fast the tires have been tested to for safety purposes.

VR and ZR are high speed ratings. HR is sort of a low speed rating. Search a tire shop web page for a detailed explanation between all the different ratings.

Good luck.

maxfli i've had 235's on my stock rims and they fit fine but they weren't as high profile as yours. mine were 45.

225/50 16 will fit fine on your stock wheels and is a good size for your SC300. H stands for 130 Mph and V stands for 149 Mph in general the higher the speed rating the higher the performance even at lower speeds.
