Tires for a 96 LS400...best value ?
Hey all,
Not sure if I am posting in the right forum here but, figured this would be the good place to start.
I have a 1996 LS400 with about 115K on it, and running strong. I sold off the factory rims and got rims from a 2002 LS430 (16") and put the old tires on the new rims. (I showed pictures on here a while ago).
Now, I noticed that the tires are starting to get a little bald (not too bad but, they are warn down quite a bit). I have been out of work for the last few months, taking little contracts here and there to pay the bills. As winter is on it's way here, I think it's about time I do something but, money is very, very tight. I am have no plans to get rid ot the car. So, I need to figure something out here.
I would like a tire that is very affordable but, will give me the ride that a Lexus should. Something very quiet, good hadling, does pretty well in snow and rain but, gives a smooth ride.
Any real suggestions for a set that would be good for something in my very tight range that would fit all these areas ??
Please help if you can, I don't want put crappy tires on this awsome car.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I just bought Continental ConiExtremes. Love the tires. Didn't really notice any extra road noise.
Paid $78 a piece. I had to get them at www.stopandgotires.com because Tirerack didn't have them at the time. This place has a crappy website but I got them fine.

Kumho ECSTA HP4, 716 HP4 and 716 represent three different names for the same tire design. Kumho's 716 tires are Grand Touring All-Season designed for the drivers of sporty coupes and sedans. Kumho 716 tires were designed to provide a combination of a quiet ride, responsive handling, good wet traction and long mileage.
At $53, these do not look like a bad option at all. How quiet are they ? How much of a smooth ride to they give ? Just wondering who has used these and what are their thoughts on them ?
I don't have a lot of $$ right now but, $275 is very fair but, if it's like another $50 to get a much better tire, I might look that way.
I want to keep the ride as much as possable, like it was new.... and with winter coming, it's very important that they handle rain and snow pretty well.
