And the actual issue at last. Head is unrepairable, the infuriating part is the cam journals are all perfect as are the cam surfaces so it's not even an oiling failure. The lifter just apparently died. Thankfully it didn't drop the valve so I think it will be an easier fix, I'm sourcing a replacement head now and it should be good to go once that's swapped out.
