Lexus: How to Check Your Tire Pressure

Here is how to determine the correct tire pressure for your Lexus.

By Tyler Brower - December 1, 2014

This article applies to the Lexus (2005-2013).

The pressure, when filled to the right pressure, can benefit not only the tires, allowing the tires to wear through their lives naturally, but it also benefits fuel economy, your comfort, and even your safety. This article will show you how to check the pressure in your tires.

Tool Needed

  • Tire pressure gauge

Step 1 – Locate the tire pressure sticker

The tire pressure sticker tells you some handy information about your vehicle like vehicle passenger load, maximum weight load, and what you're looking for, the tire pressure.
The sticker typically lives -inside- the driver door area, so you should look along the area that is typically covered when the door is closed. If you can't find it, you can always look at your Owner's Manual.

Step 2 – Remove the stem cover on the tire.

This gives you access to the valve so you can get inside of the tire.

Step 3 – Measure the pressure

Press firmly while aligned with the tire pressure gauge, because if you don't, air could escape from the tire.

Step 4 – Compare reading to manufacturers specification

If they are a little low, you can go to a gas station that has free air and fill up the tires, while stopping after a moment to check the pressure again using the method above.

If they are a little high, many gauges have a little 'nub' on the back of the area where the tire stem goes. This is to let out some air. Press the nub against the little pin-looking valve inside the stem to open it up and let air out of the tire. Do this momentarily and then repeat the steps for checking tire pressure.
