Rare Breed

The SC300/SC400 has long been a popular car among Lexus enthusiasts, but to the rest of the world, the sporty and luxurious coupe is still a bit of a mystery. That's good news for those of us looking to buy one, of course, and this 1995 model that recently crossed the block at Bring a Trailer is a fine example of its breed - as well as one that didn't sell for much money, either.

Like New

This particular car has 119k miles on the clock, which is relatively low for its age, though more than the typical auction-featured collector car. Finished in Sandstone Beige Metallic, it looks no worse for wear at least, with nothing more than a few paint blemishes marring the outside of what is an otherwise gorgeous coupe.

Surprisingly Clean

Gold badging is the perfect choice for this particular color, accenting it in a way that screams the 1990s. The coupe rolls on its original 15" wheels, which are wrapped with 225/55 Hankook Ventus V2 tires, to sum up what is a surprisingly clean and well-kept exterior.

Matching Cabin

The same goes for the pristine interior, which shows little wear outside of the typical side seat bolsters, which always take some abuse when they're covered in leather. Otherwise, there aren't many bones to pick here, because the previous owner(s) clearly babied this SC400.

Well Equipped

As one might expect from a Lexus, this SC400 is well-appointed too, with a long list of features including power-adjustable front seats, birds-eye maple wood trim, automatic climate control, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power everything, and the Nakamichi premium audio system with a twelve-disc CD changer.

Reliable Power

Power comes from Toyota's 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8, which was originally rated to produce 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, providing plenty of oomph in a super reliable package.

Solid Deal

These days, it's getting harder and harder to find a nice SC300/SC400 like this one, so one might imagine that this example would bring big bucks at auction. However, it wound up selling for a very reasonable $8,000, proving that there are still some good deals to be found in the used vehicle market.
