Vehicle - Front

For shoppers seeking a vehicle that can do everything, the LX570 might fill that requirement. It is practical, with enough room to haul the kids to school, and groceries from the market. It can do the hard work, having all the gear needed to traverse rugged dirt trails. Yet it fits right in when parked at the local country club, surrounded by expensive European machines.

Engine

The LX is powered by a 5.7-liter 32-valve DOHC V-8. It cranks 383 horsepower, and produces 403 lb./ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic connected to a four-wheel-drive system. This potent engine comes in handy when pulling this massive three-ton vehicle from 0-60 mph time in 7.3 seconds according to Lexus. Fuel economy is listed at 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway with 15 mph being the overall amount using premium fuel. The gas tank has a capacity of 25 gallons for fuel. Towing capacity is a hefty 7,000 pounds with a cargo load of 1,400 pounds.

Instruments

The gauge cluster is well designed and easy to read with plenty of data offered on the center cluster screen. The steering wheel has paddle shifters so the driver can choose gears manually if needed.

Controls

The LX570 shares many off-road mechanical parts (and controls) from its brother, the famous Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. On the left is a knob for crawl control, which is also a multi-terrain mode for settings like SAND, MUD, SNOW, etc. There is 4x4 high, and 4x4 low, with a locking differential switch. On the far right, is a switch that operates the hydraulic suspension. It can raise the vehicle for better ground clearance, helping to avoid large rocks while out on the trail. It can also lower the height for easier and safer cargo loading. For street driving, the middle knob offers drive settings for ECO, COMFORT, CUSTOM, NORMAL, SPORT, and SPORT+. The latter provides great stability at highway speeds.

Mouse

On many Lexus vehicles, the infotainment system is controlled by a finger touchpad. On the LX it is controlled by a mouse/stick. Above is a menu button that brings up icons such as audio, destination, phone, apps, info, and setup. On the left is the map button that brings up the navigation system.

Info Screen

The information screen is large enough at 12 inches wide. It has plenty of surrounding cameras for a bird’s-eye view of the SUV which helps a lot with tight quarters. Other standard electronics features include automatic emergency braking, cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitor, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and more.

Cargo

For camping trips that require a long drive, and hauling people or gear, the LX570 does the job. It gets you there in total comfort, can tackle the roughest trails, and hold plenty of cargo. It also has a proven reliability record, so it can get you there and back.

Price Sheet

The LX570 is available with two-row five-passenger seating for $88,940. The second choice is a three-row eight-passenger as seen above. It starts at $90,830. A list of options drove the tab to $99,710. This is not cheap, but not much more than many competitors who offer a lesser vehicle for more money. The LX570 is still worthy of a Lexus flagship status and definitely a vehicle you should consider if you want a larger set of wheels.
