Compact Crossover Showdown
The compact crossover segment continues to be one of the most popular among consumers, and it's filled with solid choices from virtually every automaker on earth. That includes the 2021 Lexus NX and Lincoln Corsair, which do battle at the luxury end of this red-hot segment. Thus, we thought it would be prudent to take a closer look at how these two contenders match up against each other in every conceivable way.

2021 Lincoln Corsair
The current-gen Corsair is entering its second year in the market, so not much has changed. Lincoln is, however, introducing an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid version dubbed the Grand Touring, which was originally scheduled to launch last summer. Otherwise, buyers get their choice of two turbocharged engines and front- or all-wheel-drive configurations.

2021 Lexus NX
The NX has been around for a bit longer than the Corsair and enters the 2021 model year largely unchanged. However, it holds a number of advantages over the Corsair thanks to the fact that it's more established with buyers, including stellar resale value and proven reliability, though its more audacious styling may be a turnoff to more traditional buyers.

Powertrains
The Corsair's top engine choice, save for the new PHEV model, is Ford's 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 that produces 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, which is backed up by an 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the NX comes with a 2.0L turbo I-4 that is rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is backed up by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Both the NX and Corsair return 25 combined miles-per-gallon in the EPA's ratings - both are rated at 22 mpg in the city, though the Corsair edges out the NX on the highway - 29 mpg vs 28 mpg. Otherwise, both vehicles offer luxurious, feature- and tech-laden interiors, towing capacity up to 3,000 pounds, and seating for five.

Pricing
The 2021 Corsair starts out at $36,940 but can be optioned up past the $60k mark if you check the right boxes. Meanwhile, the NX has a slightly higher starting MSRP of $38,535, and can also crest the $60k mark with the right combination of goodies. Regardless, if you go light on options, both of these crossovers are a solid value for the money.

Picking a Winner
These two vehicles are incredibly similar in virtually every way, so picking a winner really comes down to personal preference. Traditionalists will likely prefer the Corsair's more subdued styling, but if you don't mind standing out a bit more in a crowd, the NX's proven resale value and reliability makes it our personal choice here.
