Visually Appealing

Those looking for an exclusive, sporty version of the Lexus RX need look no further than the 2021 RX Sport Edition, which the automaker has announced for the European market. The 2021 RX Sport Edition, which is available now, is a one-year-only model with a host of visual upgrades that make the brand's crossover even more appealing from the outside.

Unique Touches

The focus of the RX Sport Edition lies on the outside, where the signature Lexus spindle grille is finished in black, providing a contrast to the chrome surround. Meanwhile, the 20-inch wheels are finished in Dark Bronze, while a set of black door mirror casings are borrowed from the RX F-Sport.

Additional Changes

In Lexus' Eastern European markets, including Russia, the Sport Edition also comes with a new body aero kit. This includes lower side sills, a front lip, and a lower rear bumper in the vehicle's body color. A "Black Vision" badge serves as a finishing touch on the rear hatch.

Responsible Sourcing

In addition to these visual enhancements, Lexus is also expanding the availability of its Tahara upholstery, which offers the look and suppleness of leather in a durable product that contains no animal-sourced materials. As an alternative to leather, Tahara is more environmentally efficient to produce and makes the RX accessible to a larger range of customers.

Tech Features

In addition to the introduction of the Sport Edition, the 2021 RX soldiers on with a host of welcome technology, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen is present on higher models. A heads-up display is optional as well.

Safety Features

The RX is also equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System + which includes active safety and driver assistance features that will alert the driver to collision risks, and intervene to help prevent an impact if necessary. The most recent Pre-Collision System now can detect pedestrians in the vehicle's path in night-time driving, and cyclists in daytime. The RX also marked a world-first in adopting a new BladeScan Adaptive High-beam System, automatically giving deeper and wider forward illumination from the LED headlights.

Act Now

The 2021 RX is on sale now, including the Sport Edition. But the latter will only be available for the 2021 model year, so those who want one will need to act soon. Regardless, it's probably a safe bet that Lexus will offer something similar once again the following model year, as it's been doing more in recent years.
