Big Change

The Lexus UX quickly found its niche in the heated compact luxury crossover segment and hasn't looked back, with some updates coming for the 2023 model year. One of the biggest also makes it more affordable, as the hybrid-only 2023 UX250h will now be offered in front-wheel-drive configuration after it was previously only sold as an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

More Efficient

The new front-wheel-drive 2023 UX250h starts out at $35,850, while all-wheel-drive is a $1,400 option. The cheaper UX also gets better fuel economy - 42 miles-per-gallon combined, compared to 39 mpg, which is another benefit for those that don't need or want the extra traction.

Similar Powertrains

Both the FWD and AWD versions of the 2023 UX250h utilize essentially the same powertrain, but the FWD crossover does not come with the third electric motor present on the AWD version. However, both models come equipped with the same 2.0-liter I-4 gas engine and a combined output of 181 horsepower.

Trim Levels

Those that crave a bit more luxury or sport from their UX can step up to pricier trim levels, including Premium, which has an MSRP of $38,310, F Sport Appearance, which costs $38,310 and includes only visual upgrades, while the F Sport Handling model retails for $43,280 and adds adaptive dampers, other suspension enhancements, sport seats, and a sportier steering wheel.

Other Updates

There are various other tweaks present for the new model year, including things like better structural rigidity, run-flat tires, a new infotainment screen, connectivity features, and a redesigned center console.

One Catch

There is one big catch when it comes to the FWD model, however - it still costs $1,325 more than the previous entry-level UX, which started at $34,525, though it offered less in the form of a 169 hp 2.-liter I-4 and a CVT.  That extra money is paying for a handful of upgrades, anyway.

Coming Soon

Those that are interested in purchasing a 2023 Lexus UX250h in any configuration will be happy to know that they won't have to wait much longer, as the model is expected to go on sale at some point in August.
