Luxury Mover

The Lexus LM made its debut back in 2020 as an ultra-luxurious version of the Toyota Alphard, a minivan that's been on sale in places like Japan and the Middle East for over two decades to this point. This "Luxury Mover" has since proven to be quite popular with the upper class, mostly thanks to its posh rear passenger compartment loaded with amenities, and the newly-revealed 2024 model takes that concept to the next level - and makes us wish it was available in the U.S., too.

Reinventing the Wheel

From the outside, the 2024 Lexus LM looks, well, pretty much like one might expect. Lexus didn't try to reinvent the wheel here, merely updating the LM with the latest version of its spindle grille, moving the Lexus badge, blacking out the A-pillars, and adding some new wheel designs and color options. Still, it's a clean look, and perhaps more importantly, one that doesn't stick out too much.

Cozy Cabin

On the inside, the LM's overhaul is far more comprehensive, however. Lexus focused on beefing up the sound deadening, even going so far as to tune its available powerplants for quieter operation. Things are pretty nice up front, with a new, single screen containing both the infotainment and instrument cluster, along with plush seats. But the LM isn't about driving yourself, it's about having someone else drive for you, so the real story lies in the rear.

Lap of Luxury

There, you'll find a pair of super comfortable lounge chairs parked behind a massive 48-inch screen that's mounted to a partition separating the rear passengers from the front compartment - just like a proper limo. There is privacy glass as well, so one can choose how much interaction they'd like to have with the driver, all while enjoying the seat's built-in body-temperature-sensing tech and ottoman.

Setting the Mood

There are both 6- and 7-passenger versions of the new LM, but the 4-seat version is the one you'll want to opt for to get the full experience, with the giant screen that's perfect for catchup up with the market or working on your next big business presentation. Lexus also offers a total of 64 different illumination colors, each developed to put you in a different kind of mood, whether that be relaxing or focused.

Total Control

If all of that isn't enough, the LM comes equipped with what Lexus calls "Rear Climate Concierge," which integrates controls for the air-conditioning, seat position, sunshades, and lighting. A detachable touch-screen controller can be used to control these functions, as well as the seats, audio, and lighting independently. Two controllers are located on the console armrests of the second-row seats allowing left and right passengers to set their own individual preferences.

Ultimate Ride Share?

The 2024 Lexus LM is expanding its reach across the globe, launching in 60 different countries, though the U.S. is still not on the list. That's truly unfortunate, we think, because we feel like it could easily find a niche with the upper set, not to mention serve as the ultimate ride-share vehicle for those that appreciate a little bit of extra luxury.
