Second Year, New Stuff

Brand new for the 2023 model year, the redesigned Lexus RX ushered in a new era for the long-running, best-selling luxury crossover, one complete with fresh exterior and interior styling and a host of new tech features. However, Lexus isn't exactly resting on its laurels here, as it has introduced a handful of small changes - and one big one - for the 2024 RX lineup, too.

PHEV at Last! (Welcome, RX 450h+)

The biggest news, of course, is the arrival of the all-new 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ (more details HERE), a plug-in hybrid that's available with all of the RX's available luxury grade features. The PHEV pairs a 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder gas engine with a lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors to return an estimated combined 83 MPGe rating, an estimated 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds, and what's expected to be 35 miles of EPA-estimated driving range on electric power alone.

2024 Lexus RX Grades (aka Trim Levels)

In terms of trim levels, however, nothing has changed for the 2024 RX, as it's still available in six grades:

• Standard
• Premium
• Premium+
• Luxury
• F Sport Handling
• F Sport Performance

Platform

The 2024 Lexus RX continues to ride on the GA-K platform, which is all-new and gives the crossover a lighter, lower-riding architecture that's also stronger than its predecessor, all while providing occupants with more legroom and cargo space than before with a lower load height in the rear cargo area.

2024 Lexus RX Exterior Colors

For 2024, Cloudburst Gray has joined the available exterior color lineup for all grades. And Copper Crest, which was once exclusive to Luxury and F Sport Performance grades, will now be available on the Premium and F Sport Handling grades. These additions give customers 10 total exterior colors to choose from, including --

• Eminent White Pearl
• Iridium
• Caviar
• Matador Red Mica
• Nori Green Pearl
• Nightfall Mica
• Grecian Water

4 Powertrain Options the 2024 RX

In addition to the new PHEV, the RX can be had with a variety of engine choices, depending on trim and configuration.

• The RX 350 utilizes a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four that generates 275 hp and 317 pound-feet of torque.
• The RX 350h combines a 2.5-liter gas engine with an electric motor and battery to make a combined 246 hp and 233 lb-ft. of torque.
• The RX 450h+, as previously discussed, combines a 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder gas engine with a lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors.
• The RX 500h F-Sport Performance also utilizes the same 2.4-liter gas engine as the regular RX 350, albeit with an electric motor and battery to churn out a combined 366 hp and 406 lb-ft. of torque.

Suspension and Brakes

The 2024 Lexus RX continues to utilize MacPherson front struts and a five-arm multi-link rear suspension to provide a balance of sharp handling and supple ride quality. Lexus also offers customers its optional Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) for the F Sport Handling and F Sport Performance, which provides near-instant adjustments on the fly, along with optional Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS). Braking is handled by 13.39-inch front and rear rotors with two-piston calipers, or 15.74-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers for the F Sport Handling and F Sport Performance.

2024 Lexus RX Interior Amenities

Inside the cabin, the 2024 RX offers owners plenty of notable features including an available head-up display, a wireless phone charging pad, an available 40/20/40 power split-folding rear seat, heating and cooling, and power adjustment, along with two second-row USB-C ports, and an indirect illumination system.

Six interior color options are available (although availability depends on exterior color) --

• Macadamia
• Black
• Birch
• Palomino
• Peppercorn
• Rioja Red

Along with four different "ornamentation styles"  --

• Black Cascade
• Ash Bamboo
• Black Open Pore
• Dark Graphite Aluminum.

Finally, F Sport models get some special touches such as a unique steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and aluminum trim, along with additional bolstering in the front seats and Rioja Red and Black color themes.

RX Tech Features

Along with a standard 9.8-inch or optional 14-inch infotainment screen, the 2024 RX offers customers cloud navigation capability, Lexus' Intelligent Assistant voice command feature, an available Digital Key, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Remote Connect, Safety Connect, Service Connect, an optional Mark Levinson 21-speaker sound system, available Advanced Park with Remote Park, Digital Latch with Safe Exit Assist, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0

The 2024 Lexus RX comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, a suite of driver-assist features that consists of Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA), Road Sign Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Intelligent High Beam , and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management (DRCC).
