1. Emergency Towing

Even if a tow truck is not immediately available, you can pull your Lexus if it is stuck in mud or sand using the towing "eyelet" which is found near the spare tire in the trunk.  The eyelet can be attached to any of the four mounting points, two front and two rear, behind their little plastic covers.  When pulling it in this manner, it's important to make sure the transmission is in Neutral, and the ignition key either in the ACC position, or the engine running, if possible.

2. Wheel Lift and Dolly

Lexus does not recommend towing with a sling-type tow truck, and few towing companies use those anymore because they can damage plastic bumper covers.  Instead, they advise using a wheel-lift tow truck, with dolly to lift the rear wheels if possible.  Here again, you should tow with the ignition key in the ACC mode to unlock the steering wheel.  The lock mechanism is not strong enough to maintain front wheel alignment.

3. Flat Bed or Trailer Tow

Whenever possible, it's best to tow a Lexus using a trailer tow truck, especially if you have an all-wheel drive Lexus.  This reduces the chance of damaging the transmission, driveline and wheels. Be sure to securly strap it down to prevent it from shifting in transit.

4. NO Toads or Dingys

Lexus vehicles should not be towed "flat," with all wheels on the road, which is also called "dingy" or "Toad" towing behind recreational vehicles. Is it possible?  Sure, but Lexus recommends disconnecting the drive shaft  on rear/all wheel drive SUVs, or adding a transmission cooler on front/all wheel drive cars and crossovers. Front wheel drive Lexus models can be towed behind an RV is the front wheels are on a tow dolly without issue. Learn more about Lexus towing procedures here.
