Value Game

Following a period of years when new vehicles were in low supply and high demand, we're finally starting to see the market slowly return to normal. This is notable given the fact that both used and new vehicle pricing soared to record levels following the onset of the pandemic roughly four years ago, but as is always the case, certain models offer better value than others. In fact, according to data from CarEdge, these five Lexus models have depreciated faster than others, making them solid value targets on the used market.

Lexus ES 300h

First up, we have the Lexus ES 300h, which is projected to depreciate at a rate of 38 percent, on average, over five years of ownership. Assuming one drives 12,000 miles per year, purchasing even just a two-year-old ES 300h can save $3,708 versus buying new, and over five years, the sedan loses around $18,844 of its value.

Lexus LX

The Lexus LX just received a total redesign for the 2022 model year, but it's also projected to lose around 32 percent of its value over five years, which is substantial. In fact, buying a two-year-old version of the large and luxurious SUV can save one around $19,466 versus buying new, which is a huge savings by any measure.

Lexus GX

Then there's the Lexus GX, which is all-new for the 2024 model year. Those willing to forego that shiny new model can rack up tremendous savings in the meantime, as the GX has historically depreciated at a rate of 40 percent over five years, which means waiting two years could save them $9,150 or more.

Lexus NX

The current-generation Lexus NX is also now two years old, meaning that one can take advantage of its five-year depreciation rate of 35 percent and save around $8,200 on a 2022 model with not too many miles on the clock.

Lexus RX

Finally, we have the Lexus RX, which also snagged a redesign for the 2023 model year. Those shopping for a used example of the luxurious crossover can take advantage of its five-year depreciation rate of 39 percent, meaning that going for a 2022 model year RX can save you around $19,481, in fact.
