1. It's been in the works

This new variant of the mighty RCF is here to prove to naysayers that Toyota is determined to make a lasting mark in motorsports around the world. Using a prototype of the car last year, Lexus gained the distinct honor of becoming the first Asian carmaker to win a VLN Endurance Championship race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

2. The innards

The RC F GT3 comes equipped with a 5.4-liter V8 with over 500 horsepower ready to go and hooked up to a 6-speed racing sequential transmission. Helping to get the car around the track faster is the mass amounts of carbon fiber like the hood, roof, trunk lid, doors and bumpers that drop the weight 500 kgs from a stock RC F model.

3. Where can you see it

In the U.S., the 3GT Racing Team will run two of these ferocious cars in the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship Series. Two other models will appear in the GT300 class of the Super GT Series as part of the LM Corsa team in Japan. In Europe, Farnbacher Racing and Emil Frey Racing, who are familiar with the car as they worked with the prototype vehicle last year, will complete at select GT3 Racing events with the car.

4. That stance

The car was built from the ground up with Lexus intending to present a challenger that will not only compete against accomplished foes but also beat them. Remember all those weight saving carbon fiber bits I mentioned a couple slides ago? Well, to go along with that Lexus has also given the car polycarbonate windows, multiple front vents, canards, a huge grille to suck in air, and a stance that would draw a knowing nod from any Liberty Walk fans.

5. The time of mundane cars is over

Akio Toyoda's declaration that the brand would make more exciting cars is definitely coming true with vehicles like this and the LC 500 coming soon. The chief engineer at Lexus, Yukihiko Yaguchi, is the proud man behind this car which will soon be seen as a shining example of what Lexus is capable of.
