1. Not the Prettiest Child

The Lexus IS convertible is like the child that their parents love, but they know deep down they are not the prettiest of all their children. People complain the Lexus IS convertible is nowhere near the regular IS in the looks department, mainly because of its boxed taillights, and let's face it, when you put the top down, it just doesn't look quite right.

2. Expensive

The Lexus IS250 Convertible in 2015 had a price tag that varied from $35,000 to $45,753, which is rather close to the BMW, not to mention much pricier than the better-looking sister, the IS250, priced at a $22,625 to $35,145, which is a massive difference. Most people can't justify paying that much difference just for a chopped roof.

3. Slow

Most people argue that if Lexus is selling a two-door car, it should be a performance car. The IS250 Convertible featured a V6 engine that produced 204-horsepower, and even though that's not too slow, some argue that you should expect much more from a convertible, or at least from a six-cylinder engine.

4. You Don't See Young Guys Driving it

A forum member brought up a good point, which is that you only see people over 50 years old driving the IS convertible. If you want to make a car trendy, put it in the hands of the youngsters. There is no real reason why older people like this car more than the younger ones, except maybe because it is pricey, or maybe because it is not as attractive and smooth as the regular IS, but if younger people don't like it, it won't sell as much.

5. Neither Here Nor There

Forum member and fellow enthusiast PhilipMSPT, spoke the truth on the drop-topo IS which is that if you want to make a convertible, it needs to be like a motorcycle: fast, compact, sleek, exotic, and fits a maximum of two people, but unfortunately, the IS Convertible is none of these. When compared to the Boxter or the F-Type, you start seeing the flaws of the two seats in the back seats, which are too small to fit anyone.
