Bargain Shopping

With both new and used vehicle prices reaching record levels over the past few years and holding mostly steady through the first half of 2023, it's not exactly easy to find a good deal out there. However, for Lexus fans, it can be a bit easier than most, thanks to the fact that the luxury brand is known for building reliable machines, as well as some that aren't exactly on the average used car shopper's radar. As such, there are a few solid bargains still out there, which we've outlined here for your benefit.

2011-2017 CT 200h

First up, we have a somewhat obvious one - the Lexus CT - a discontinued hybrid hatchback that didn't offer up much in the way of performance, but most certainly in terms of efficiency, thanks to its Toyota Prius-derived powertrain - around 42 mpg, combined, in fact. It's also easy to find nice used examples out there in the $15,000-$20,000 range, while low-mile gems aren't much over $20k, either.

2012-2015 ES 350

The Lexus ES is still around and kicking, and buyers have multiple generations of the mid-size sedan to choose from. However, we think the current sweet spot can be found in the sixth generation, which is new enough to offer up modern styling and amenities, but old enough that it's still cheap. A quick search finds that these cars are everywhere in the $15k range, with most of those having around 90-100k miles on the clock. Not too shabby for something that'll last at least 100k more, we say.

2001-2006 LS 430

Those that prefer a bit more size and luxury can get it from the beloved LS 430, an iconic machine that is considered slightly less reliable than its predecessor - the legendary LS 400 - but it's still a rock-solid car, regardless. Prices have risen somewhat - much like the LS 400 - but one can still find a nice LS 430 in the $10k-$15k range, with high-mile examples even dipping below $10k - making this one heck of a lot of car for the money.

2007-2017 LS 460

Those that prefer a bit more modern styling and amenities can spend a little more and get an LS 460, of course, which still looks pretty fresh today, years after it departed. The price range for the LS 460 is quite broad, ranging from $12k for higher-mile examples to the mid-$20k range for super nice, lower-mile cars, which means that there's an LS 460 for every budget.

2006-2015 RX 350

Of course, most shoppers these days want an SUV or crossover, but bargains in that segment are quite rare given this popularity. However, the second-and third-generation Lexus RX is such a machine, with 2006 models selling in the $6k range and even newer, 2015 examples falling in the under-$20k range - not bad for a rock-solid crossover.

2006-2013 IS 250

The Lexus IS is a popular entity among Club Lexus members, but also largely forgotten among the masses. As such, we can pick up one of these cars on the cheap, particularly from the more modern second and third generations. These cars sell for a mere $7k to upwards of $13k, which is pennies on the dollar in today's world.

2010-2012 HS 250h

Finally, we have perhaps the most forgotten Lexus of them all - the HS - which is yet another hybrid that's low on driving excitement and high on efficiency. For those looking for an economical daily driver, it's hard to beat, however, with prices falling in the $10-$15k range for nice cars with less than 100k miles on the clock.
