1. Lexus IS 350

Each year, Edmunds.com analyzes new cars and car brands to determine which are projected to hold their value the best. The Best Retained Value Awards highlights the vehicles that have the highest projected private party residual value after five years, assuming they are driven 15,000 miles per year. As usual, Lexus performed quite well and landed seven vehicles on the list this past year.

First up is the IS 350, which came out on top in the "Entry Luxury Car" category. The luxury sedan beat out notable competitors like the BMW 2-Series, Acura ILX, and Audi A3. It's worth noting that spending just a few thousand more and opting for the 350 pays dividends in resale value, as the 200t and 300 did not make this list.

2. Lexus ES 350

Scoring an honorable mention in the Entry Luxury Car category is the ES 350. Even though it finished behind the IS 350, the ES still beat out the same impressive competition, which is notable. But as is the case with the IS, opting for the 350 is a wise choice if you are looking to minimize depreciation.

3. Lexus GS 350

When it comes to retained value among midrange luxury cars, the Lexus GS 350 finished second only to the BMW M3. Considering the fact that the M3 is a limited production, high performance version of the 3-Series, that's nothing to hang your head on. Especially when you consider that the GS 350 costs around $15,000 less than the BMW new.

4. Lexus LS 460

When it comes to premium luxury cars, the LS 460 holds its value with the best of them. The Lexus finished third in the category, trailing only the Porsche Panamera and Audi A6, which is extremely impressive considering the fact that we're about to receive a completely new LS this year.

5. Lexus NX 200t

Nearly every SUV that Lexus makes scored a spot on Edmunds' list, starting with the compact NX. The NX 200t beat out all comers in the Entry Luxury SUV category, including the Acura RDX and Audi Q5. That really isn't a surprise when you consider both the popularity and class leading features presented by Lexus' smallest 'ute.

6. Lexus GX 460

The Lexus GX 460 took top honors in the Midrange Luxury SUV category, beating out the Acura MDX and Land Rover Discovery Sport, among others. Once again proving that opting for any kind of Lexus SUV is a smart choice if you want to minimize the massive depreciation new cars typically bring.

7. Lexus LX 570

Wrapping up our list is the LX 570, which received an honorable mention in the Premium Luxury SUV category. The LX finished second only to the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class and beat out the Cadillac Escalade. And when you're nipping at the heels of a car that is a favorite of Hollywood celebrities, you're doing pretty darn good.
