1. Kitty Litter
Have you ever tried to pull your car out only to be on a patch of slippery road and wonder what you could do to not feel helpless again? Kitty litter is the simple solution. Shake a good amount of it under and behind your tires next time you're having some traction issues to get out of a bind quickly.
2. De-Icer Spray
You rush out to your car seeking the comfort of the leather seats with thoughts of being home dancing in your head, but instead you cannot open your car because the doors are frozen shut. Apply a few sprays of De-Icer around the door, and they should open right up for you with minimal elbow grease.
3. Portable Booster Pack
You may feel better having AAA road service or by simply calling Lexus Roadside Assistance, but if you're caught out somewhere that is a bit off the beaten path it may be some time before help arrives. If the temperatures are low and waiting isn't an option, then by all means, you will thank the heavens for having the foresight to buy one of these.
Make sure that you purchase a booster pack that has an air compressor, along with the standard jumper cables, as to cover multiple problems should you find a tire that's a bit low.
4. Ice Scraper
How many of you have walked out in the morning to be greeted by this sight? Purchasing a scraper that does double duty as a snow brush will help immensely by cutting down the time it'll take to clear your windows and get onto the road.
5. De-Icer Windshield Washer Fluid
The normal fluid in your car won't do you any good if you wish to gain a clearer outlook on the road during winter months. Pick up De-Icer windshield washer fluid from any auto parts store to make sure your view is never compromised.
6. Swiss Army Knife
A Swiss Army knife should actually be in your car year-round as a multi-tool that will pay for itself in spades! From opening a bottle to cutting yourself out of a restraint to opening up a food canister, your trusty little companion will be there for you time and time again, no matter what obstacles the winter months throw at you and your Lexus.
7. Miscellaneous Items
- A whistle: Use it to call for help and alert other motorists if they are approaching danger.
- Extra clothes/blankets: A blanket will keep you warm and you can also use it to help calm someone who is going through shock, not just in the winter but at any time of the year. Having extra jackets or clothes can come in handy if you need to change a tire on a snowy highway and get wet or dirty in the process.
- Water bottles and Military MREs: Staying hydrated and having something to eat can be the difference between thinking clearly in a bad situation and losing your wits as time crawls by. Be sure to rotate these items in and out of your car with stock at home as they're temperature sensitive.
