Vehicle Front

The RC sports coupe has been a popular seller for the Lexus brand. The body shape never goes out of style, and we get four engine choices to match driving requirements. This carries on for the 2020 model year. We were sent an example with a nice bright red metallic paint job. It is called "INFRARED" and cost $595 extra on the never ending option list.

Engine

The RC series comes with a 2.0 liter 241 hp turbo, 3.5 V-6 260 hp with all-wheel drive, 3.5 liter 311 hp V-6, and the top line 5.0 liter V-8 seen here. It cranks a healthy 472 horsepower and hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Paddle shifters located on the steering wheel allow the driver to choose gears manually. Fuel economy is listed at 16/24 mpg which is accurate. Ordering the V-8 gets RC-F emblems on the outside bodywork so onlookers will know you spent the extra coin.

Rear Exhaust

You can also spot the V-8 RC by the rear quad exhaust setup. It adds a bit of class and impresses the onlookers on Friday night cruises. It sounds like a V-8 should as well. The claimed 0-60 mph time is 4.6 seconds.

Wheels

The RC-F comes standard with 19-inch split seven-spoke forged alloy wheels. The ones seen here are optional 19-inch hand-polished 20-spoke forged alloy that will set you back $1,500. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear.

Infotainment

The infotainment system is controlled by a finger touchpad. It is awkward to operate at first but will be easier to use once the learning curve is mastered.

Price Sheet

The base price of $64,900 is reasonable but like most luxury rides, the options list is long. With LED headlights, wheels, navigation, and plenty of luxury goodies the total tab came to $80,014. While this price is not inexpensive, it is still less than the comparable European sport coupes. The quality and reliability are better too thus making the RC-F a good choice.
