Basically New

It wasn't that long ago that we learned a number of brand new Lexus LFAs still existed, a shocking reminder that in spite of its excellence, the LFA was a bit expensive in its time. Regardless, those that passed on the fantastic supercar are probably now regretting it, because values are steadily on the rise. Just take this basically brand new LFA that recently crossed the block at Bring a Trailer, for example.

Display Model

Number 184 out of 500 produced, this Pearl Yellow LFA also has just 72 miles showing on the odometer. Like the other brand new LFAs around the U.S., this one was delivered to Arlington Lexus of Palatine, Illinois when new and subsequently purchased by the dealership. It remained on display there for nine years, barely racking up any miles in the process.

Rare Color

This particular LFA is fitted with a couple of options, including headlight cleaners and a speed-sensing rear wing with side spoilers. It's also one of just five Pearl Yellow cars sold in the U.S., making it a rather rare sight indeed. The car's carbon-ceramic disc brakes feature Brembo aluminum monoblock six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers that were painted yellow from the factory to match.

Inside the Cabin

The interior of this particular LFA is finished in a combination of black and cream leather with plenty of carbon fiber accents. A 12-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and Lexus Insider infotainment system are the technical highlights, though there's really no need for all that when you can just listen to this car's legendary V10 sounds.

Intoxicating Powerplant

Few engines on earth sound as good as the LFA's 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10, which produces 552 horsepower at 8,700 rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque at 6,800 rpm, with a sky-high redline of 9,000 revs. That power flows to the rear wheels via a six-speed single-clutch Automated Sequential Gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Interesting Factoids

Another interesting factoid about this particular LFA is that it was used for factory quality confirmatory evaluation by Lexus, so it was delivered with 27 miles already on the clock. It's also worth pointing out that the car is still covered by its factory warranty, which is a nice bonus for the new owner.

Huge Premium

Still, the new owner had to pay for the privilege of owning a brand new LFA by doling out a whopping $808,000 for the car at auction. That's a considerable premium over the LFA's original sticker price of $388,900, but then again, it's a rather special example of a very special supercar.
