Tasty Rumor

The newest version of the Toyota (GR) 86 and Subaru BRZ are set to launch in the near future, but as it turns out, there may be a third variant of Toyota's pure sports car in the works. Even better, it might just be wearing a Lexus badge, if a report from the Japanese site Spyder7 turns out to be true.

Urban Coupe

The model would reportedly be called the UC, short for Urban Coupe. It would also represent a rather enticing, more luxurious version of the GR 86, albeit one with proper rear-wheel-drive, a Boxer powerplant, and a chassis set up for driving enjoyment.

Longer and Distinctive

The UC would reportedly measure in at 177 inches long, which is quite a bit longer than the GR 86's 168-inch length. These extra inches would be dedicated solely to the car's revised front and rear fascias, which would help differentiate it visually from both the GR 86 and BRZ.

Brand New Cabin

The interior is rumored to take a page out of the new 2022 NX's book, which would also represent a big departure from the car's Toyota and Subaru twins, which share pretty much the same cabin design.

Boxer Power

In terms of power, it's believed that the UC will retain the GR 86 and BRZ's 2.4-liter boxer engine, though it could be mated to at least one electric motor and be sold as a plug-in hybrid, which would make sense given the brand's recent electrification push.

Row Your Own

It's unclear if the UC will be available with a manual transmission, but we can certainly dream, anyway. Regardless, the idea of a smaller, more nimble, and less expensive Lexus sports car is truly enticing, and we hope that this rumor proves to be true.
