CarPlay Upgrade for Select 2018-2019 Vehicles

The Apple trickles down

Lexus has announced to the automotive world that Apple CarPlay will be available to certain vehicles following up the rollout of CarPlay last year. The Apple infotainment system can be installed in the 2018 LS, LC, RC, RC F, and NX. The new CarPlay will be available on both sides of the border in the U.S. and Canada.  

What you need to know

More detail into what vehicles can receive the update is the 2019 NX made before October 2018, the 2019 RC F made before October 2018 and the 2019 ES without factory navigation made before October 2018. 

The update to the Lexus Multimedia system will need to be done at your local Lexus dealer.

It couldn't hurt to spread it out

There has been no word is Toyota/Lexus will be moving CarPlay to vehicles older than just a year but the upgrade would be a welcomed one for beleaguered owners. Our reasoning for wondering is due to Mazda announcing last year that it would offer an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay retrofit for all of its vehicles model year 2014 or newer.

It won't be cheap

FYI the upgrade to the system will cost $199. Ouch.
