Unique MR2

If the MR2 you see in the photos above looks like nothing you've ever seen before, that is because it was designed that way. In a quest to create the world's most unique Toyota MR2 build, Thailand's Smicha Momm Thira undertook the project a while back, and nearly two years later, the results of his hard work speak for themselves.

Lifelong Enthusiast

As is the case for many of us gear-heads, Momm's been using cars as an expression of his soul for years. Unfortunately, options are limited for Thailand-based enthusiasts, forcing many gravitating toward Hondas. In fact, one of Momm's first projects was a Honda: An EG6 Civic that he tuned to make around 400 horsepower at the wheels! Nearly 2 decades later, he set his sights on the mid-engine Toyota.

A Capable Platform

He knew he wanted to build onto a platform was a lot of power potential. But he also wanted a car that could provide great handling around corners. The MR2 Turbo was the perfect starting point. However, he felt the car in stock form was too heavy. So he made it a point to reduce weight with every single modification. And this goal took Momm down a path filled with lots and lots of Titanium!

Titanium Everywhere

The number of Titanium parts used in this build is higher than we can keep count of. From the roll cage and lug nuts, all the way to all the fasteners and bolts around the car are made of Titanium. All for the objective of achieving as high of a power-weight ratio as possible.

Aggressive and Unique

And since being unique is the primary goal of the project, Momm had to have a one-of-a-kind wide body kit as well. His friend, the owner of Garage Unique fabricated a special kit exclusively for this application. The visual upgrades of the MR2 hit two birds with one stone. Not only do they give it a supremely aggressive look, but they also make it incredibly unique.

Demonic Power

Aside from his desire to express his individualism, Momm is also very hungry for horsepower, as you could have probably already guessed. At the time the MR2 was featured on Fast Car, it was capable of 500 horsepower on low boost. Flipping a switch would kick things up to 666 whp, all thanks to a rebuilt 3SGTE l4 motor and a massive BorgWarner EFR 8374 turbo. And that was still not enough for Momm, who reportedly had plans to improve the mid-engine Toyota's power further up to an insane 750 hp.
