Electrifying Concept

Toyota made a big splash recently when it announced a major EV initiative and brought along 15 intriguing concepts to show off at the same time. One part of the automaker's plan is to make its luxury brand, Lexus, all-electric by the end of the decade. But the most interesting thing about all of this, at least to us, was this particular concept - an all-electric Lexus LFA successor.

Impressive Numbers

Officially known as the Lexus Electrified Sport concept, this wild machine certainly looks like a proper LFA successor on the outside, with swoopy, attractive styling, and purposeful lines. But that's not the only shocking thing about this EV - Toyota says that it will do 0-60 in the low two-second range, and travel up to 453 miles on a single charge, too.

Secret Sauce

Toyota directly referenced the LFA when talking about this particular car, saying that it will feature the same "secret sauce" and its legendary, high-revving, F1-inspired predecessor. Part of that might be solid-state batteries, which are far more power-dense than traditional lithium-ion batteries.

Driving Signature

"The endless pursuit of the Lexus driving signature will move to the next stage through development of a new sports battery EV, with both proportions and low ride height essential to a sports car," Toyota said during the presentation. "It will showcase the unique driving performance of a Lexus, and become a model that symbolizes the nature of the brand."

High Performance EV

"Acceleration time will be in the low two-second range, cruising range over 700 kilometers, and with the possible use of solid-state batteries in mind, we will aim to create a truly high-performance battery EV," the narrator says.

New Era

While it may not produce the amazing sounds the LFA became famous for, this concept certainly looks like it could be an amazing machine to drive. Whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen, but we can't think of a better way to kick off a new, electric era than this.
