First Class Fitment 2019 Show is the Last One

It's truly sad to see this excellent show come to an end after a full decade, but at least there's plenty of S2000 eye candy to help close it out with a bang.

Good Things Must End

All good things must come to an end. Or at least that's what they say. When it comes to car shows, we rarely see the end, however. Most events just keep on growing and expanding, with no end in sight. So it's curious to see the decade-old First Class Fitment show choose to move on after this year's finale. Regardless, Super Street was in attendance to help send them off with a bang.

Simple Idea

Over the last ten years, Cristian Loza and Roy Jang, founders of Canibeat, along with their official site photographer, Dave Tormey have put on one of the very best car shows on the east coast. And it all started with a simple idea. "Dave grew up around Princeton, and after always driving by the airport on his way to work, he thought of the idea [for a show] and stopped by one day," said Loza.

Perfect Venue

The Princeton Airport sat dormant for a few years before it was repurposed in 1985. The scenic location is obviously home to aircraft-related activities, but it also made the perfect backdrop for a host of awesome builds. And each year, the main hangar has hosted a special theme for the First Class crew.

Last and Biggest

Year after year, the show has completely sold out registrations for the event. So to send off the First Class Fitment show with a bang, the team decided to populate the hangar with the previous year's winners for the final event. And it shouldn't come as a surprise that 2019 proved to be the largest-attended show in the event's 10-year history.

Asking Why

So at the end of the day, it makes you wonder - why would anyone choose to end such a successful event after a strong 10 year run? According to Loza, the team felt like they had just left their mark on the industry, and that it felt right to go ahead and walk away.

Calling It Quits

"We just decided this is the final event, as it was a good milestone and we wanted to ride out on top. It just felt right," Loza explained. Which we suppose we can understand. After all, many athletes have decided to call it a career while they were still in their prime, rather than drag on endlessly.

Taking a Toll

Whether there's more to the story or not, we may never know. But as we well know, putting on large events like these and trying to improve each year can be quite the task. It just becomes exhausting, and perhaps the rewards just weren't worth the effort anymore.

Getting the Itch

Still, you have to wonder if the crew (or any of its individual members) have plans to get back in the car show game in the future. At least for now, Loza claims that they don't have any such ideas in the works. But we wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them got the itch to do something at some point down the road.

First Class Rides

If this is truly the end for the First Class Fitment team, we'll certainly miss the many diverse rides and unique setting it presented us with, year after year. As you can clearly see, it always brought out some of the very best rides on the east coast without fail.

Keep Moving

Thankfully, we've got plenty of other great shows across the country to fill the void. And you can bet that few of them have any plans of ending anytime soon. And as long as this fantastic hobby of ours keeps going strong, you can expect it to keep growing indefinitely.
