Five Reasons to Love the Latest Lexus GX

Lots to Love

The Lexus GX might be getting a little long in the tooth, but despite its age, the big SUV is still a popular, comfy, and capable machine. It's also one of the few vehicles on the market that's capable of providing a unique mix of reliability, off-road capability, and supreme luxury. The LX is a similar beast, but it's also over $30k more expensive to start. So there's obviously lots to love about the GX, and here are five reasons why we're big fans of it.

Enriching Sound

Lexus is in the middle of expanding Apple CarPlay capability to much of its lineup, but unfortunately, that doesn't include the GX right now. Despite that major oversight, there's no issue to be found with the SUV's Mark Levinson sound system, which provides occupants with some seriously enriching sound. If Lexus can get this infotainment thing figured out, the GX will be serious contender in the user experience department.

Off-Road Capable

It goes without saying that most GX owners will never take their SUV off-road, but if they really wanted to, it's more than capable of handling those kinds of conditions. It even sports a full 8.1 inches of ground clearance without a fancy suspension lift or giant knobby tires. And V8 fans will love the old school 4.6-liter engine, which produces 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque.

Ultra Comfort

One of Lexus' hallmarks is offering up supreme comfort in all of its automobiles, and the GX is no exception. The seats are big and cushy, and the sound insulation makes riding in this thing like a giant vault. It's a nice escape from the outside world, and on that you'll never get tired of slipping into.

Third Row Flexibility

Like most vehicles in its segment, the third-row seat in the GX isn't exactly the nicest place to be. But it's not designed for full-size humans, just the little ones. And in that case, for those that have expanding families, the mere presence of a third row is certainly welcome.

Safety First

As is the case with most Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the GX is loaded to the gills with high tech safety equipment. It comes standard with things like automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning, just to name a few. And these are all things that our aforementioned growing family is sure to appreciate.

Add it all up, and it's easy to see why so many people love the GX, even if it is in need of some updates here and there. Lexus has this formula down to a science, and it's one that many customers appreciate and seek out. And that makes the GX a great buy, no matter how you slice it.
