Unexpected Territories

In 2015, Lexus introduced a small concept that sparked big controversy, the LF-SA. This ultra-compact vehicle retains Lexus' goal, focused on providing the ultimate luxury driving experience, but in a vehicle smaller than anything they've ever built before. This vehicle is set to be the ultimate city-vehicle, with a unique, forward-looking design, and extreme safety, this car could be a huge hit when it finally hits the streets.

Exterior

If you're wondering how small the LF-SA really is, the answer is much smaller than you think. This ultra-compact measures just 135.8 inches in length, and 66.9 inches in width, reaching just 56.3 inches tall. For reference, a FIAT 500 is nearly 5 inches longer, and 6 inches taller. The exterior style is bold with sharp edges, making it obvious that this concept offers tremendous maneuverability. The front receives a grille close in style to the Lexus' spindle grille, and the exterior color scheme, was inspired by the solar eclipse.

Interior

The interior features lighting engineered to give the driver and passengers a sense of space and is actually larger than you may think. The cabin of the futuristic concept is a 2+2 design and is supposed to fit four people, but the driver gets the best treatment. The driver seat is set in place and does not move, however, the pedals and the steering wheel are adjustable. This brings the car to the driver, rather than moving the seat to bring the driver to the car. To access the rear two seats, the passenger's seat moves forward, allowing rear passengers to freely go in and out.

Technology

The dashboard features sweeping lights, a design that goes along the entire cabin, giving the interior a feeling of space, elegance, and modernity. The LF-SA is equipped with hologram display headlights, which are linked to Lexus' instrument binnacle and a wide-angle head-up display. The infotainment system will feature the latest technology, and focuses on the driver as always, providing the latest safety features, as well as comfort and entertainment.

More details

Unfortunately, Lexus hasn't been giving us all the information we are dying to hear, like the powertrain. As of right now, we don't know if this will be a hybrid, all-electric, gas, or what, however, they did mention that the LF-SA is designed to be extremely fun to drive. Finally, the LF-SA will mostly target Europe and some parts of Asia, and while we would be extremely happy to drive it in crowded American cities like L.A., San Francisco, or NYC, it's a long-shot.
