Hot Rod

Across the pond, it isn't unusual to see cars packing engines made by other manufacturers. Much like the hot rod movement here in America, our friends in other countries understand the benefits of stuffing a large engine into a small car. And when Stolton Engineering set out to build a quick hill-climbing machine, they landed on using a Lexus V8 to power their Ford Sierra.

Weekend Toy

Stolton does all sorts of fabrication work, tons of custom welding, racing, and even towing and transporting. But on the weekends, they obviously like to have a little fun and blow off steam from the long work week. That's where this '93 Ford Sierra comes into play, of course.

Nice Change

Apparently, Lexus' 1UZ V8 fits quite nicely in this tiny little sedan. The engine was plucked from a first-gen Lexus LS400, which was likely in bad shape. But at least its heart lives on in this racer, and it sounds absolutely glorious charging up hills in this video

Power to Move

The engine remains naturally aspirated for now, but its 280 horsepower output is more than enough to move the 2,200 pound Ford around quite quickly. The engine breathes through a dual side-exit exhaust and has a BMW 318 gearbox behind it to handle shifts.

Aero Mods

In addition to the mechanical mods, there's also a slew of aerodynamic enhancements worth mentioning. They include a big rear wing and front splitter, to name a few. There's also a set of tasteful white OZ wheels that really give the Ford a proper vintage racer look.

Skilled Build

Stolton performed all the work on this Ford in the house, which is a testament to their skill level. The end result of that hard work is a little sedan that looks cool, sounds awesome, and more importantly, goes pretty fast. All it took was a little ingenuity and an infusion of Lexus's power to get there.
