Four Lexus Models That Aren't Lighting Up The Sales Charts

Lexus may have enjoyed a banner year in 2023, but these four models did not contribute much to that success.

Slow Sellers

The 2023 calendar year was a good one for Lexus, as Toyota's luxury arm bounced back from years of slower sales to post an increase of around 24 percent versus 2022. That was one of the better results in the entire industry, in fact, and it's one buoyed by the launch of multiple new models over the past few years. However, as one would imagine, there are a few Lexus models that didn't quite have banner years, and instead, ranked near the bottom of the pile in terms of sales.

Lexus RC

Lexus fans love the RC, but in general, the buying public has largely turned away from luxury performance-focused coupes in general. Thus, we shouldn't be too surprised to learn that the RC - which has received precious few updates over the years - only managed to record a total sales figure of 1,752 units last year, which is the lowest in the entire Lexus lineup and a year-over-year decrease of 33 percent.

Lexus LC

The same goes for the Lexus LC, which in all fairness is a pricier, more exotic, and more limited model than the RC. The LC actually managed to outsell the RC by just a few units in 2023, however, with 1,761 sold - a number that's also 27 percent higher than 2022, proving that luxury grand tourers are still a thing.

Lexus LS

The Lexus LS is still the flagship for the brand, but only as it pertains to passenger cars. Gone are the days when the LS was Lexus' ultimate offering, and America's shift to crossovers and SUVs is evident in its waning sales numbers. In 2023, Lexus sold just 2,234 LS models - a decrease of 16 percent - in fact.

Lexus RZ

Finally, we have one of the newer additions to the Lexus lineup - the RZ, which is its very first mass-produced and globally available EV, not including the all-electric version of the UX. Plagued by negative reviews centered around its poor range, the RZ hasn't lit up the showrooms by any means, recording just 5,386 sales in 2023 - though some recently introduced incentives may help boost that number in the coming year.
