Gazoo Racing Mods for the New GR 86 are Racy
Gazoo Racing have created a wide body modification kit for the GR 86, showing the aftermarket how it's done!

Since the introduction of the new Toyota GR86, the aftermarket has naturally been very active, creating new mods for the updated sports car. Seemingly caught up in the excitement, the very group whom the Toyota is named after, Gazoo Racing, has now joined in on the fun, building their own extensively modified GR 86.

As our friends at Top Gear are quick to point out, the philosophy behind a GR GR 86 feels somewhat questionable. Nonetheless, the wide body creation is worth a closer inspection. The manufacturer's in-house racing outfit has given the 86 a complete kit with several aerodynamics elements, which, as one would expect, are all meant to be functional.

Ratifying the Aftermarket?
It feels as though the engineers at Gazoo Racing were looking at what the aftermarket were doing and genuinely getting upset. They must have been thinking these mods were completely ruining the car's overall dynamics, and that they had to step in. They had to provide the hungry customer base with a set of visual upgrades that also add to the performance.

Added Performance
From the large front splitter, the air inlets, the vents behind the front wheels, all the way back to that huge rear wing and the gnarly carbon-fiber diffusor, everything is designed to create downforce. There is a lot at work here. Not only does the kit show a set of very complex aerodynamic elements, it also features suspension and brake upgrades.

A Subtler Option
All of these extensive customizations may be more than many owners want. And that's why GR has gone through the trouble of creating a slightly less racy version of their kit. Still an upgrade from the factory model, but not quite to the level of madness of the wide body build.
