1. It's nothing like any current Lexus

The LC is nothing like any vehicle that Lexus currently produces. This is an all-new, rear-wheel drive architecture that doesn't share anything with another car - not design ideology nor components. Lexus spent a lot of time designing and perfecting the LC, and the result is the most structurally rigid unibody they've ever produced. The only thing it shares in common with any of its brethren is the V8 engine in the LC 500, which also sees duty in the RC.

2. It is the blueprint for future Lexus products

That completely new architecture may be unique to the LC now, but in the future, it will provide a blueprint for every other front engine, rear drive Lexus. The extensive use of high-strength steel in the extremely rigid unibody will provide a significant improvement over the old platform. And elements of the stunning design, perhaps Lexus' best yet, will undoubtedly trickle down to other models in the future.

3. The LC will do more for Lexus than the LFA did

The LFA was an amazing halo car for Lexus, and it really helped shatter some misconceptions about the automaker. But the extremely limited production supercar wasn't exactly going to help the vehicles that Lexus sells by the boatload, like the RX. The LC, on the other hand, is a much more obtainable halo for the average consumer and many of its elements will trickle down to other models. With a base price south of $100,000 and a drivetrain not inspired by Formula One, you'll undoubtedly see more of them on the road. And believe it or not, the LC actually features a stiffer unibody construction than the LFA.

4. An eclectic group of cars provided inspiration for the LC

It's no surprise that Lexus cites cars like the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type as inspiration and benchmarks for the LC. After all, those are similar cars in both performance, appearance, and pricing. But Lexus also looked to the BMW 6-Series and Mercedes S-Class when designing the LC. Though those three would appear to have nothing in common, it shows that Lexus wanted to have the best of both worlds in its new halo car.

5. It might be the most seamless blend of luxury and performance yet

Lexus set out to make the LC the best luxury performance coupe on the market. While most cars make you choose between the two, the LC balances both perfectly. And that balance is exactly what Lexus wants to be known for. Lexus took their sweet time perfecting that balance, and the result is a car that is stunning and comfortable, with capable handling and impressive performance.
