The nature of the beast

Set to make its official debut in October at the Tokyo Auto Show will be the LC-F supercar. Currently, the hottest news being passed about auto circles is that the LC will, in fact, be receiving a higher performance spec that is currently targeting the lap times that the Nissan Nismo GT-R set down around Fuji. Whispers had been ongoing of this car for the last six-to seven months but things went into overdrive when Toyota recently applied for a trademark of the LC F name.

Under the hood

Car and Driver report that per an inside source at Lexus the uber coupe will be capable of 600 horsepower coming from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and a purported 500 lb-ft of torque. The engine is essentially two 8AR-type- 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder power plants sharing a common crank and angled together at 90 degrees. The 10-speed automatic transmission from the LC 500 will be making the journey over to the high-performance version because if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Exterior upgrades

The exterior of the car will be upgraded with much needed purposeful aero such as a new vented hood, air ducts for brake cooling, a front fascia with splitters and rear air vents, as well as a fixed spoiler. The wheels will likely be 20-inch lightweight forged sets that will be inside of sticky hi-po tires while the brakes will be momentum stopping six-position calipers.

What it'll cost you

When it hits the marketplace the LC F is said to go for about 20 million yen which is around $180,000 in good ol American dollars. While it's not a drop in the bucket, it is staying very close to the Nismo GT-R again as that car retails at $175,000 and is a steal when you compare it to the limited LFA.

Spread the joy around

That twin-turbo V8 engine in the LC F could be enough to make consumers in the market for a high-end sports car pause as the car does have a higher horsepower than both the Mercedes AMG S63 Coupe and the Porsche 911 Turbo S. The double boosted V8 power plant will appear in the GS F also but it will be a detuned version that will be rated at just 542 horsepower.
