New Hue

With the 2021 LC, Lexus obviously isn't trying to make major changes. After all, this is still a fresh and exciting machine, and the automaker just rolled out a drop-top version for the new model year as well. But the newest LC is getting at least one new feature, and that's the addition of a rather attractive Blazing Carnelian color.

High Saturation

According to Lexus, the new color "evokes the agile driving performance" of the LC, whatever that means. Regardless, thanks to high color saturation, it's a stunning finish. Lexus applies multiple coats of the paint, including two different high saturation base coats and an additional mica base.

Scientific Process

According to Lexus, it can take up to two years to develop new colors like this one. Given the dazzling nature of this and other recent hues, we can certainly see why. These aren't your average, boring paint colors, after all, but rather seriously eye-catching treatments with a lot of science behind them.

Finding Inspiration

This new and dazzling exterior color also gets a perfectly matching interior treatment dubbed Manhattan Orange. That color scheme is inspired by the Manhattan Henge natural light effect that happens twice a year when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the New York district's famous grid pattern of streets. The Manhattan Orange color is applied to the seat accents, door panels, and headliner.

Seeing Colors

Clearly, this process isn't something Lexus takes lightly. "When developing a new color, I see so many shades of paint that sometimes I can't see straight at the end of the day," said Megumi Suzuki, a color designer at Lexus. "Every time I meet someone, or walk into a shop, or go into someone's house, I check out the colors and materials. There are many people like me in our division."

Few Changes

In addition to the new color, the 2021 LC does receive a few other updates. They include a revised suspension and transmission, along with Android Auto support. Everything else carries over from the 2020 model year.

No Refresh Needed

These are minor updates for sure, but that's to be expected with such a new and fresh product. Regardless, the LC continues to be one of the more beautiful machines available on the market today, and in our opinion, doesn't need a refresh just yet.
