LC500 Now with 100% More TRD Exterior (Photos)

Official tuner company for Toyota, TRD, have sought fit to release images of the body kit for the new Lexus. Could this kit be the first step in a world populated with LC Fs?

1. TRD time

Toyota Racing Department has put together a kit for the LC 500 and LC 500h to add sleeker aggression to the pricey coupe.  Sources say that the parts that make up the kit can be purchased separately. While this may be a pain for someone who wants to just purchase the kit and be done, other owners have the option to pick and choose as style their car. The front spoiler on the car will go for about $1,240.

2. Lightweight wheels

These wheels are new 21-inch forged aluminum that set the whole car off really nicely. What you'll be paying for the set, however, is a hefty sum of $6,070. In my opinion, for that amount of money, the wheels should come coated in anti-curb rash technology but TRD just threw in a set of lug nuts for owners.

3. Rear view

On the rear of the car is just an understated backside that could use a tiny bit more emotions of the mean and nasty variety. I feel as though TRD got around to the stern and just had no idea what to do with it. Kind of like a new pro athlete faced with a Kardashian. The inclusion of the diffuser is nice but just is way too trivialized to draw any significant attention. I don't know if they were being conservative with it or just going down a checklist of things they know they need to include without much extra thought put into it.

4. A spoiler with nothing to prove

To be honest, I didn't care for the lip spoiler when I first saw it. But there's something there. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I get the size and angle of the piece as it is sitting on top of the active spoiler that lifts up and out at 50 mph. While I don't think the car needs a park bench mimicking old Fast and Furious business, I would've appreciated something taller.  What I'm thinking of is closer to the one that Artison created for the car with their semi-wide body kit. By the way, the cost of the TRD diffuser and spoiler go for $1,240 bucks if you're so inclined to add it to your LC.

5. The whole kit and caboodle

All in all, I feel as though this is a nice step towards the notion that Lexus is intent on making the LC series one that will contend with other sport-infused GT cars in the category. Hopefully, we do get an LC F that is something more akin to the working man's LFA for those prospective owners who didn't get a shot at the uber-coupe when it ran in limited numbers.

Those side skirts on the car cost just $975. The whole kit goes for a tad over four grand for the exterior only mods courtesy of TRD. It's all show and no go for these parts so if you want to add some extra oomph we suggest putting your funds elsewhere first.
