Lexus Details Its Innovative New Road Trip Program
Vacation is often filled with stressful travel, but Lexus is out to change that.
Relaxing Journey
It's been a few months since Lexus first announced its innovative new program dubbed "Retreats in Motion," which aims to take a fresh approach to the great American road trip, and now, we're learning more about what that entails. The point is to make the journey every bit as relaxing as the destination, which is more important than ever in today's stress-filled world. "These days, the desire to escape on the open road to rejuvenate mind and spirit has never been more enticing," said Vinay Shahani, Lexus vice president of marketing.

Enjoy the Journey
The Retreats in Motion program launched in California last spring, and will be expanding to New England this coming fall. At its core, the program is a five-day driving trip that is bookended by stays at two high-end hotels, with an emphasis on relaxation and wellness along the way. This is sort of the way road trips used to be, long before we lost focus of enjoying the journey as much as the destination.

World-Class Accomodations
The freshly launched journey in New England takes travelers from the XV Beacon Hotel in Boston to the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod, which offers a plethora of tremendous scenery along the way. But while those world-class hotels are obviously a big part of the vacation, there's plenty to see in between courtesy of the 2021 Lexus IS 350 F Sport participants will be driving, too.

Passing the Time
While in the IS itself, participants can listen to podcasts and participate in wellness activities curated by Mindbodygreen, a lifestyle brand centered around health. There are breathing exercises and meditations to help keep you calm even when sitting in horrific traffic or after you've been cut off by someone else not paying attention, while also listening to informative podcasts to pass the time.

Equipment for Activities
The IS is also filled with the types of things you'll need for these relaxing activities, such as yoga mats, an oil diffuser, herbal tea, and a map that allows you to see the very best scenery along your route. In the case of the New England route, which is generally a slow crawl in bumper-to-bumper traffic along Route 6 with folks trying to escape to Cape Cod for the weekend, these sorts of things are quite welcome.

Maximizing Time
The point here is to maximize one's time away by making the journey as refreshing as the destination, and it certainly seems like Lexus has managed to do just that. Along the way, guests are invited to explore the hiking trails at Blue Hills Reservation, visit the Myles Standish State Forest, and Plymouth - the landing site of the Mayflower, before winding up at the historic Chatham Bars Inn and taking in some whale-watching along the shore.

Pricing
In terms of pricing, the New England Retreats in Motion journey starts out at $2,360 for a five-day trip for two. The package includes two night stays at both resorts, a wellness kit, access to curated wellness content, and of course, the use of a 2021 Lexus IS.
