Same, but Different

Lexus recently debuted the brand new LC Ultimate Edition, a car that features a host of unique touches that will be sold in limited quantities in Europe, and in Europe only. However, it seems as if Japanese customers won't be left out in the dark, as the luxury brand just revealed the LC Edge for that market bearing some of the same upgrades.

Unique Paint

Lexus will only build a grand total of 60 units of the LC Edge, which can be easily distinguished from a regular old LC 500 in a number of ways. On the outside, that includes a unique matte white paint, in particular, though it's also accented by a host of jet black-painted features.

Functional Upgrades

Those include canards integrated into the front bumpers - in this case, they aren't just tacked on - that help control airflow and reduce lift, which makes them functional rather than just some appearance upgrade. They work in tandem with a new trunk spoiler to help the LC carve through the air as well.

Unique Seats

Inside the cabin, the LC Edge features the same sport seats as the regular LC, but in this case, they're covered in a unique shade dubbed Kachiiro blue. That particular name pays homage to ancient Japan, a word that means "victory."

Smoother and More Responsive

In terms of output, the LC's naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 still makes 471 horsepower in the Edge, but has reportedly reduced friction in its rotating assembly. This was done with the intention of improving both response and smoothness.

Better Handling

Lexus tweaked the differential in the LC Edge to improve response, also tinkering with the chassis to improve handling, and adding a new hollow rear member and an underbody brace to ramp up agility.

Winning the Lottery

Pricing for the rather rare LC Edge comes in at ¥17.6 million ($125,950 USD) - roughly $25k more than the regular model, which features some of the same mechanical enhancements for the new model year. However, the model is apparently in high demand, prompting Lexus to hold a lottery that will run until June 27 to choose the lucky 60 customers who get the right to purchase one.
