Truly Special Find

The Lexus LS400 is already one of the most legendary models in the history of automobiles. Insanely reliable and supremely comfortable, these plush sedans are in high demand these days. And yet, you rarely see a Coach Edition example pop up for sale. So when we spotted this beautiful '97 at Bring a Trailer recently, we knew we had stumbled across something truly special.

Coach Everything

Lexus built the Coach Edition models in collaboration with the American leather manufacturer Coach Inc. Produced only for the 1997 model year, these special cars featured Coach leather seats, embroidered emblems on the exterior, floormats, and armrest, special colors and added trim and a Coach cabin bag.

Nice Example

This particular car is one of only 2,500 Coach Editions produced in total for 1997. And it's a very nice example at that. The Lexus lived under one owner until it was purchased by the seller, and has a relatively low 106k miles on the clock. And by the looks of things, it's also been very well maintained over its years of ownership, too.

Nicely Appointed

The car's tan leather interior is in excellent shape and is nicely contrasted by dark gray interior trim and wood veneer on the center stack and door panels. Other standard niceties include memory seats, a CD changer, a power moonroof, and embroidered emblems on the armrest and floormats. Everything reportedly works properly, save for the power antenna.

Lots of Life Left

The digital odometer currently shows 106k miles, of which 2k was added by the seller. Given the fact that we've seen these cars routinely rack up 400,000+ (and up to a million) miles, that means it's really barely broken in. This Lexus certainly has tons of life left in it, at a point where most cars are nearing the end.

Legend Status

Of course, that's mostly due to the fact that the LS400 packs a legendary engine under the hood - the mighty 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8. This one's been treated to a host of maintenance recently, including a new OEM timing belt and water pump, new spark plugs and wires, fresh ignition components, and coolant and engine oil changes.

Lots to Like

Finished in an attractive shade of Opal White with gray cladding, there isn't really anything not to like about this rare LS400 Coach Edition. Unless, of course, you're more of a Kate Spade fan. Otherwise, you certainly won't find a much cooler version of one of the greatest cars ever built. By any manufacturer.
