Lifetime Reputation

Automotive models come and go, few lasting more than a few years. Even fewer forge a reputation that lasts a lifetime. But that can certainly be said about the Lexus LS, particularly the LS400. Known to go hundreds of thousands (and even a million) miles with little trouble, folks still covet these cars today. And that makes this incredible '98 LS400 we spotted at Bring a Trailer a truly special find among an amazing breed.

True Time Capsule

This particular LS was purchased new in Florida and remained with the original owner until the fall of 2019. Which of course partially explains why the car only has 34k original miles on it. Perhaps the original owner was retired and simply drove their Lexus on nice days to the grocery store. Regardless, it remained in amazing condition over the years, and today serves as a proper time capsule for one of our favorite models.

Well Equipped

Painted Cashmere Beige Metallic with a beige interior, this Lexus is also adorned with a host of gold accents. Just the way we remember. And even by today's standards, it's a pretty luxurious and well-equipped ride. It sports goodies including HID headlights, fog lights, a power sliding, and tilting sunroof, and power-adjustable heated side mirrors.

Properly Appointed

The interior of this LS400 looks no worse for wear, either. There, you'll find a host of luxurious goodies including dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable seats with driver-side memory settings, variable speed intermittent wipers, a 280-watt Nakamichi sound system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer, and plenty of burl wood accents.

Cared For

Everything you see here, from the leather seats to the optional leather and wood steering wheel and carpet, looks mostly brand new. It's quite clear that the original owner loved and cared for his Lexus. And why wouldn't he? Cars like this were prized purchases in their time, reserved for those seeking high-quality transportation.

Ready to Roll

The engine bay of this LS400, packing that legendary 4.0L 1UZ-FE V8, is equally clean and sanitary. A slew of maintenance was recently completed, including new spark plugs, air filter, thermostat, timing belt, and water pump. The tires are also new, and the air conditioning has been serviced as well. Now, this iconic Lexus is ready to rack up some serious miles.

Resist the Urge

Bidding on this beauty was obviously brisk, and it ultimately sold for just a shade over $15k. Low-mile LS examples have been bringing good money for a while now, and we only expect their value to rise. After all, there aren't a lot of them left out there in the world. Because who can resist the temptation rack up miles on a car that's essentially perfect?
