Handsome Kit

If there's one thing we can count on besides death and taxes, it's that every Lexus eventually gets some kind of body kit from Toyota Racing Development. The latest recipient of this treatment is the RX F Sport, and needless to say, it's a handsome bit of kit. But as you likely already know, you'll have to import one of these from Japan if you like it, because it isn't available here in the U.S.

Parts List

As is the case with most TRD kits, this RX body kit consists of a front spoiler, side skirts, fender covers, and a rear diffuser. Total cost for all of those parts is around $6,110 U.S. dollars, though you can, of course, purchase them separately if you wish.

Additional Goodies

And if you want to take your RX mods a little further, TRD has a few additional performance options as well. They include a sport muffler ($2,680), 21-inch forged aluminum wheels ($1,500 each), 22-inch wheels ($1,530 each), and performance front and rear dampers ($940). You can also buy a fancy looking aluminum drive mode select dial for the interior.

By Design

Of course, Lexus claims that all of these goodies are functional as well as stylish. The rear diffuser is said to add downforce and stability. The sport muffler features a tuned sound and is designed to fit the diffuser perfectly as well.

Purposeful Style

The two-wheel options differ slightly in design, but both are equally attractive. The forged aluminum pieces help shed weight, of course, but Lexus also claims they aid rigidity. Thus, they reportedly provide both improved ride comfort and stable, load-holding performance.

Improvements Abound

Meanwhile, the aero fenders aid, of course, aerodynamics. But we're guessing you'll see more of a difference from the dampers. These parts, one for the front and one for the rear, improve high-speed steering stability while also reducing noise and vibration.

Less Dust

To keep those shiny new wheels clean, Lexus also offers upgraded brake pads for the RX F Sport. These pads are said to reduce brake dust while also offering the same braking performance as the original pads. And that's always a welcome development in our book.

Chiseled Chin

The front spoiler/diffuser is quite attractive as well, giving the RX even more of a chiseled look up front. It also makes the RX roughly 35 mm closer to the ground, so you'll want to be careful going up steep driveways. But we'd say the looks make it totally worthwhile.

Upgrade Me

Altogether, we think the TRD Lexus RX F Sport body kit is a very nice styling upgrade if nothing else. Whether or not SUV owners care about things like downforce, well, that's up for debate. Now if we could just convince the automaker to offer this kind of cool stuff here in the States...
