Lexus to Take the LC 500h to India

Time to shake things up

At this point for India, if you wanted a Lexus you'd only have the ES 300h, LS500h sedans along with the NX 300h, RX 450h, LX 450d, and LX 570 SUVs.  That will all change come next year when the automaker will bring the hybrid version of the LC to market. A nice bonus will be that India will receive the LC with the recently revealed exterior tweaks. 

Lower power but higher mpg

While India will be missing out on the grunty naturally aspirated V8 engine that comes in the normal LC, they will still get some nice petrol savings with the V6 hybrid. The LC is one of the most beautiful cars on the market right now with its long hood, angry yet determined headlights, and rakish roofline.

Tell 'em what they'll get

The LC 500h comes with a 3.5-liter V6 mated to two electric motors good for 354 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Pair those up with a unique gearbox that is a combination of a CVT and automatic transmission allowable for 10-speeds to choose from. All of that will produce a 0-100 kmph time of about 5 seconds.

On sale in 68 countries already

Looking to add more sales to the tally, the LC has sold 12,000 units already since its introduction to the world in 2017. Lexus is looking to take the fight directly to the Jaguar F Type, Audi RS5, and the forthcoming 8 Series BMW.  “We have a strong belief in the Indian market and expect to grow here,” says PB Venugopal, President of Lexus India.

Wait and see

The LC will be unique when it comes to India as of this writing as it will be the only hybrid in the market segment withstanding no other automaker brings in a similar product. Lexus is expected to price the LC 500h between  INR 1 Crore to INR 1.5 Crore.
