Tuner's Dream

We've been seeing aftermarket companies offering their takes on the MKV Supra since before it even went on sale, it seems. And that's not surprising to anyone, given the massive popularity of the Supra brand name in the JDM culture. And at this year's SEMA Show, we got to see builders take things up a few notches, even tuning a Supra up over 1,000 horsepower!

SARD

The Japanese racing team and tuning company, SARD didn't want to be left out of the conversation. So they got to work creating their own modified version of the GR Supra. SARD was the first Japanese racing team ever to win the 24 Hours of LeMans. So their legacy in motorsports is highly credible. And they've put that knowledge and experience to use in creating this enhanced Supra.

Paying Tribute

With a quick visual inspection of the modified Supra, it's hard to miss the distinct custom front fascia design. An aesthetic homage to the legendary Toyota Supras of the past, especially the MKIII, the pronounced black graphic lines underneath the headlights continue past the front wheels and into the front fender area.

Widebody

At the rear, a fully redesigned bumper cover houses the larger air outlets, as well as the big diffusor at the bottom, with custom exhaust pipes. The unique carbon fiber wing is another addition at the tail end. Flared out custom-built fenders and body side panels create a beautiful widebody look and help house the car's wider tires.

Under the Skin

This is way more than just a bodykit, though. SARD has engineered the turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-6, which puts out 382 horsepower from the factory, to produce 493 horses and 505 lb-ft of torque. This bump in power is achieved through a high-flow BorgWarner turbo, a billet compressor wheel, an ECU tune, a titanium exhaust system, and a sports catalytic converter.

Limited Numbers

The team at SARD has also given the Supra big improvements in handling and braking, to match the increase in its power. The 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007A tires round things off. The production of these track-ready Supras will be limited to 20 units. Each one costing the equivalent of around $120,000.
