Same Car, Fresh Look

3GT Racing’s No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 sported a very different look when it rolled off the trailer for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Instead of unloading two ice-blue racers, 3GT's #15 entry in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship now sports a very different fire red chrome paint scheme and Basecamp.com logos.

Can't Miss Opportunity

The look is a major switch up for one-half of 3GT's Lexus lineup, but there is a good reason for the change. Basecamp, a cloud-based product management suite with 3+ million users, has teamed up with the Michigan-based outfit for a full season of GT Daytona racing. And by the sounds of things, they're pretty excited about the opportunity.

“At first, we just hoped for additional monthly income,” said Basecamp's co-founder David Heinemeier Hansson. “But it’s been an amazing success. Now I have a company that lets me sponsor race cars around the world. My professional life and my hobby meet when I see the logo on the side of the car.”

Switching It Up

Despite the change, 3GT's No. 14 Lexus will retain its ice-blue chrome livery, a look that garnered a ton of attention on the circuit last year. The #14 car will be driven by Kyle Marcelli, Dominik Baumann, and Philipp Frommenwiler this season.

Man with Many Job Titles

The No. 15 Lexus' new look is every bit as stunning as the old one and provides a nice contrast to the blue car. Even better, Basecamp's Heinemeier Hansson isn't just sponsoring the new ride - he'll take his turn behind the wheel, too! The part-time driver and full-time businessman will be joined by fellow pilots Jack Hawksworth and Sean Rayhall.

Change Is Good

Sounds like a pairing made in heaven to us. And both parties obviously couldn't be more excited. “We received a lot of attention last season with the twin blue chrome cars," said team owner Paul Gentilozzi. "We know people loved the blue but with a new sponsor on the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 it seemed like a good time to change up the livery.” And as much as we love the original blue, we couldn't agree more!
