Next-Gen Lexus LX Rendering Predicts New Styling Direction
These renderings attempt to preview the new LX, which is reportedly coming next year.
New Direction
By now, it's no secret that an all-new Lexus LX is on the way, following up the brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser that now looks a lot different than the old one. The next-gen LX will reportedly go on sale next year, though outside of a teaser or two, no one really knows what it will look like. However, the folks over at Kolesa recently rendered the forthcoming redesigned LX to give us a bit of a sneak preview of the new styling direction they think the big SUV will embark in.

Gargantuan Grille
The front end of this LX rendering is certainly a bit more aggressive than anything we've seen from Lexus before. The SUV's spindle grille is simply massive, spanning the majority of the front end, while the headlights are smaller than the current model. The rest of the body, on the other hand, looks pretty much identical to the new Land Cruiser.

Bold Move
Full-width rear taillights are a pretty safe bet in today's automotive world, which is why this rendering grafts them onto the LX. Overall, it's an interesting take on what the next-gen model might look like, but probably not an accurate one. We have a hard time believing Lexus will go this bold, but then again, only time will tell.

Pure Speculation
What we do know about the next-gen LX is that it will continue to share a lot of its mechanicals with the Land Cruiser. That includes Toyota’s GA-F architecture, which promises to continue to give the LX supreme off-roading capability. From there, it's nothing but pure guesswork and speculation.

V8 is Dead
The LX is expected to ditch its naturally-aspirated V8 for a base twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 producing 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, as well as add a hybrid version that's rumored to produce upwards of 480 horsepower and 642 pound-feet of torque. As much as we hate to see the V8 go, Toyota already killed it in the new Land Cruiser, so it's very likely to happen.

Big Screen, New Tech
In addition to these styling and mechanical updates, the LX will undoubtedly add the latest tech inside the cabin, as well as a new interior design to complement the exterior. A 17-inch touchscreen is rumored to join the mix and given today's trends toward larger screens, we don't doubt that one bit.

Almost Here
It shouldn't be too much longer before the new Lexus LX is revealed to the masses, and it could potentially be unveiled this month, in fact, before going on sale late this year for the 2022 model year.
