Sitting on the Lot

A little over two years ago, a very unusual chrome Lexus LFA emerged for sale in Germany at Mobile.de with one heck of a large price tag - $1 million dollars. These days, the LFA has become a highly desirable and pricey collectible, but for various reasons, this particular example is still sitting around unsold, two years later.

Obnoxious and Dangerous

The most obvious answer to our question of why this LFA hasn't found a buyer is the way it looks. Chrome is obviously cool on some vehicles, but when it covers the whole thing, well, it's a bit more obnoxious, as well as perhaps a bit dangerous, too, as it could easily blind the driver of oncoming traffic with its reflective surface.

Largely Ignored

However, in this case, that chrome surface is simply a vinyl wrap - not some sort of elaborate paint job. One could easily remove it and detail the car, making it a bit more desirable and normal. But for the asking price of €1,049,600 asking price ($1.071 million USD), nobody has bothered to even consider such an option.

Loud Cabin

Underneath that shiny wrap lies a regular old black paint job, which would make this LFA quite desirable, even at a higher price. Peek inside, and you'll find a matching red and black interior adorned with carbon fiber trim,  a pretty loud cabin for sure, but also a nice one.

Glorious Powerplant

And of course, we'd be remiss not to mention the heart and soul of the LFA, Lexus' beloved 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10, which goes almost as good as it sounds. This is simply one of the greater engines ever created by anyone, and it makes the LFA that much more desirable.

Holding Out

Thus, one has to wonder - why hasn't someone purchased this LFA yet? We're not sure if the seller is willing to negotiate on price, which could play a big role in that, aside from its extremely shiny and controversial finish. But we have to imagine that the seller would want to part ways with it by now, though it seems as if they're also willing to hold out for top dollar.
