Most thought Lexus would enter the EV market with a big, luxurious, halo car, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Interesting Plans
With the Porsche Taycan debuting recently, many expected Lexus' first all-electric vehicle to also be some sort of bigger, high-end luxury car. However, if a recent report from Autocar proves to be true, that certainly doesn't appear to be the case.

Shocking News
Instead, it looks like Lexus' EV debut will actually be a small, 2-door, urban hatchback based on the 2015 LF-SA concept (pictured). And Autocar also reports that this car will make its public debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show in October.

Electrified Future
Of course, Lexus has already committed to offering an electrified version of every car it makes by 2025. So they obviously need to get the proverbial lead out at this point to make it happen.

Small and Funky
A small and funky city-dweller is probably the best way to kick off that mission. Lexus can produce something that's likely to appeal to younger folks in metropolitan areas by building a car that's easy to navigate through tight urban streets.

Carryover Design
Otherwise, there are no further details on this interesting concept. But Autocar does report that Lexus design boss Koichi Suga is leading the styling for the EV, and that the car will feature a spindle grille. Obviously.
