Someone Actually Bought a 2020 Supra for Almost 90 Grand

For what some of these dealerships are asking, you could buy two Supras or even mod a MK IV to unspeakable power levels.

The prices are getting crazy

The 2020 Supra is now on sale in the US and some dealerships have wasted no time in tacking on thousands of dollars to the sticker price. In the classic capitalistic game of supply and demand, there have been reports of a Florida Toyota dealership selling the fifth-gen sports car for almost $200,000. Welp, pricing is one thing but the fact that someone actually bit on another crazy number has us worrying that it could be a bad sign of things to come.

But...why?!

While not as lofty as almost 200 grand the Supra I'm referring to sold for a still hefty $87,574 according to a Texas Toyota dealership. That dealership in question is the North Park Toyota dealership of San Antonio. The Supra in question is an Absolute Zero white Launch Edition GR which stickers for just $55,250.

This is why we can't have nice things

Case and point for these two dealerships not being the only ones engaging in the practice, Colorado Springs' Larry H Miller Toyota selling the Supra for a cool FIFTY GRAND over sticker price. In the sake of humility, Toyota of Cool Springs Tennessee is just asking for a paltry $25,000 over sticker.

Enthusiast or speculator?

But like I said, there is one thing about advertising crazy prices but a whole other on someone actually justifying it by handing over a check. So what is going on? Is it because the Launch Edition Supras are limited to just 1,500 numbered examples? Is it the only option of three colors that which will be offered for the normal Supras also (the other two colors being Renaissance Red and Nocturnal Black)?

I call dibs

After all of these 1,500, Launch Edition cars are sold off will then be the normal Supras which will be offered in 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims respectively.

So what is going to happen to the rest of the Launch Edition cars? Will the markups continue or will things start to dive down after the initial "Supra Fever" dwindles?

For me personally, I'd rather have the Gazoo Racing Supra with the 2JZ swap for that amount of money.
