Supercharged Lexus IS250 Takes an Unconventional Route

Unconventional Choices

Like any other automotive manufacturer, Lexus has its own unique qualities and quirks. Many have fallen in love with transforming these cars into "VIP" rides laden with luxury and style. But as the owner of this Lexus IS250, Johnny Feng explained in his car's shoot with Import Tuner, didn't want to take the conventional route with his build.

Sticking Out

Having owned a few different JDM-themed rides over the years, Feng stuck with what he knew in this case. On the outside, there's no missing this IS in traffic thanks to Function & Form’s Type 2 coilovers, purple paint, and unique blue F-Zero Volk TE37 wheels wrapped in Falken FK452 tires.

Performance Show Car

Feng's goal here was to build a performance-oriented show car, so that certainly isn't the end of the story. This IS also features a host of suspension goodies, including GT Spec chassis braces and F-Sport sway bars, along with Endless 6-piston racing calipers and 355mm rotors.

More Power

Though most think it's silly to try and squeeze horsepower out of the IS250, Feng ignored that common thought as well. Instead, he blessed his Lexus' mill with a Vortech V-9 F-trim centrifugal supercharger, Mazzuri headers, Invidia mid-pipe, and Blitz Nür Spec exhaust.

Cool and Lubricated

To get all that power to the ground, Feng even swapped out his stock diff with a Tom's LSD. His attention to detail also led to the installation of an RB Racing electric oil feed and scavenge pump, custom charge piping, Synapse Synchronic blow-off valve, and a Greddy intercooler to keep his engine cool and well-lubricated.

Against the Grain

All of that effort has certainly paid off, as Feng's Lexus has racked up wins at Hot Import Nights, SpoCom, and Import Showoff. Not to mention some time on the track. But perhaps most importantly, it proves that you don't have to go with the crowd to build a killer, head-turning ride!
