These Lexus Models Are Among the Slowest-Selling Vehicles Right Now

Though Lexus is enjoying a sales boom, that doesn't apply to every model in its lineup.

Exceptions to the Rule

As a whole, Lexus has enjoyed a tremendous sales boost in the first half of 2024, a trend that actually began in 2023. Last year, the luxury brand set new personal bests in terms of electrified vehicle sales and SUV sales, all while a host of models - including the IS, NX, and RX hybrid all set new personal records for sales as well. However, there are a couple of Lexus models, in particular, that are also among the slowest-selling on the market today, too.

Lexus LC

The Lexus LC is one of those slow-selling models, which isn't a huge surprise given the fact that it's a sports car - not some high-volume crossover. Regardless, in the first half of 2024, Lexus moved just 966 LC models, which is a pretty low figure.

However, that number also puts the LC on pace to set a new personal sales record for the year, too. In 2023, Lexus sold 1,761 units of its sporty, luxurious coupe, which was 27 percent more than the 1,387 it moved in 2022, which means that it's likely still making enough money to keep around for a while.

Lexus RC

As for the Lexus RC, well, it's getting a bit old in the proverbial tooth, which is also at least part of the reason why it's also on the list of the slowest-selling new vehicles with just 941 sales in the first half of the year. It's also a coupe, a style that has largely fallen out of favor in the U.S. in recent years.

Things aren't looking up for the RC like they are with the LC, either. In 2023, Lexus sold 1,752 RC models in total, which was a rather large 33 percent decrease over 2022, when it sold 2,648 units. At least for now, it doesn't look like the RC is going anywhere, but it wouldn't be surprising if the coupe lands on the chopping block if sales continue to plummet.
