The thief that drove away in this Lexus RC didn't bother to try and open the door.

Brazen Act
Though automotive theft has been on the rise for years now, so have brazen acts committed by the thieves looking to steal them. Thanks to the prevalence of cameras, we typically get to see these wild acts ourselves, and that's also the case with this rather surreal scene that occurred in Cicero, New York recently involving a Lexus dealership and an RC that was sitting inside the showroom.
Planned Attack
According to Syracuse.com, a group of six people broke into the dealership early one morning and located the keys to several vehicles, including a Dodge Challenger, a Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and this 2023 Lexus RC350. However, it was the thief that made off in the latter model that wound up causing a pretty big scene.
Dramatic Exit
Rather than try to open the doors to the dealership before making off with their new acquisition, the thief can be seen getting in the vehicle, starting it up, and immediately driving toward - and then through - the glass entrance. Glass proceeds to fly everywhere, and the thief continues on through the parking lot and off into the night.
Lost and Found
The Cicero Police Department has additional video of the incident that they're choosing not to reveal it at this time. Regardless, two of the three vehicles - the RC and the Challenger - have since been found, while the Wagoneer has not.
Person of Interest
Police also managed to conjure up some video that shows a passenger riding shotgun in the Lexus coupe, who they are seeking out as a person of interest. "Cicero PD would like to speak to the individual and their involvement is yet to be determined,"said Cicero Police Lt. James Meyers.
On the Loose
Unfortunately, the police haven't yet caught any of the suspects involved in this brazen crime, but we imagine that it's only a matter of time. After all, thieves that commit high-profile crimes like this tend to make a mistake at some point, putting a premature - and oftentimes temporary - end to their not-quite-legal careers.
